I started training in dance in my mid-20’s, so naturally, as an older dancer, movement didn’t come naturally to me as it does to a younger body. However, this didn’t stop me and I completely fell in love with dance. I wanted to learn everything about it from the moment that I walked into my first contemporary dance class. Lucky for me, I met Krista in Dubai. Not only did she inspire the love for dance, which I still continue to have 7 years later, but she taught me how to think about “movement.” Better yet, the proper kind of movement to get me to the next level in my training with good form and minimal injury. I not only took contemporary dance, but I also hired Krista as a personal trainer and nutrition coach. The thing is that in order to get good at any type of physical activity, you really need to look at it holistically. Since incorporating the PT and advice that Krista was giving me, I noticed more flexibility and muscle in my body. These are all great things, but what I learned the most was to be more aware and conscious about the way I moved. For example, depending on the muscle you decide to use, it will influence the amount of energy you spend on that particular movement. Also, if you don’t engage your core in the right manner, you increase your chance of injury. In fact, your movement expression can be completely off if you don’t engage your core properly. These are all things that I have learned from Krista. Sure, all I want to do in dance class is roll around in the floor. But applying these concepts will make the rolling around the floor easier, more fun and less painful. For me, Krista opened a curiosity not only in dance but movement in general. Learning how to move efficiently became part of my training. Krista has both the passion and the knowledge to get your body in the physical condition necessary to achieve your fitness goals- whether that means dancing better, becoming better at a sport or simply aligning your posture for a better quality of life. Her love for fitness, body well-being and nutrition is contagious.
